Most people have tried AI by now. A quick experiment, a few prompts, maybe a generated email they were not quite sure about. What most have not done is understand how it actually works, why it does what it does, and how to get it producing what they genuinely need.
AI Fundamentals is a six-hour, in-person course built for people who are curious about AI and ready to build on that curiosity properly. It draws directly on the Techosaurus Generative AI Skills Bootcamp, which ran last year across the South West and was delivered to over 150 businesses. The best of that programme has been distilled into a single, practical day.
The course covers what AI is, how it works, and how to get real results from it using a clear prompting framework. You will see it in action across a range of tools, work through genuine business tasks with guidance, and leave with a personalised prompting tool you can use the next morning.
There are no prerequisites and no jargon. Whether you have barely opened it or you use it occasionally and want to stop second-guessing yourself, this course is designed to take you somewhere useful.
How the day is structured
Build the mental model
We start by giving AI a shape. You will get a plain-English explanation of what AI actually is, how it processes what you give it, and where it is genuinely useful.
Then we move into the ROAR prompting framework, the five prompt techniques, and the three rules that determine whether AI gives you something good or something frustrating. This is not theory for the sake of it. It is the foundation everything else builds on.
See what's possible
Before you go hands-on, you will see what is out there. Live demos cover a range of tools and use cases, deliberately kept broad so you understand the category rather than just one product.
We also cover the essentials of ethics and data security, and introduce the Techosaurus prompting tool you will be using for the rest of the day and taking home afterwards.
Do the actual work
The second half of the day is practical. You will work through a series of real business tasks using your new prompting skills, guided throughout.
The tasks are drawn directly from the kinds of things most business owners and sole traders deal with every week. You will leave having done the work, not just heard about it.
What you will learn
Prompting that actually makes sense
The ROAR framework: Role, Objective, Appearance, Restrictions
The five prompting techniques that cover most business use cases
The three rules of AI that experienced users apply without thinking
How to read an output and know whether it is worth using or needs another pass
Practical, hands-on experience
The hands-on tasks are designed to mirror your working day. You will come away with real outputs, real prompts, and a clear sense of where AI fits into how you already work.
We keep the specifics as a surprise. The best learning tends to happen when you are not expecting it.
An honest view of the tool landscape
You will get a clear, grounded overview of the main AI tools people are actually using, including what they are good at, where they have limits, and how to think about choosing between them.
The aim is to help you understand what you are looking at, rather than picking a winner for you.
Method over platform
Learn the thinking, not just the interface
The temptation with AI is to learn one tool deeply and call it done. The problem is that tools change, new ones appear, and the one your colleague swears by might not be the one that suits how you work.
This course teaches method, technique, and theory. How to think about a prompt. How to structure a request. How to read and refine what comes back. That knowledge travels with you into any tool, on any day, regardless of what the platforms do next.
You will leave with frameworks that work in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and anything that comes after them. The tool is just the interface. The thinking is yours.
Your prompting tool: built during the day, yours to keep
A place to keep what you have learned
One of the things people consistently miss after a training session is somewhere to save what they have learned. The Techosaurus prompting tool is designed to fix that.
You will be introduced to it early in the day, use it for the hands-on tasks, and leave with it pre-loaded with prompts for every task covered during the session. It is shareable too, so if you work in a team, you can get everyone starting from the same foundation.
This is about making sure the learning sticks rather than fading the moment you are back at your desk.

Talking to AI is a communication skill, not a tech skill
It is fast becoming a new modern soft skill that everyone requires. The people getting the most from it are not the most technical ones. They are the curious ones who know how to explain what they need, check what comes back, and build it into how they already work. This course is designed to give you that foundation properly.
